Cherry Blossoms and Stuff

DSC_0962
A couple of my mama friends and I decided to run across the bridge into DC to see the cherry blossoms. I swear it was the only cloudy day that week, but the blossoms were still just as beautiful as usual.

My Aunt Margie Cartwright and her daughter Michelle Money and her daughter Brielle came to DC for a 5k fundraiser for Colon Cancer. They spent an afternoon with us. I showed them some sights and then we did pilates. I love it when family comes to visit!

And here are more pictures of Eva, because I can't get enough of her :)

St Patty Party

With a TON of help from the Smith's we decided to throw a St. Patty's day party. Like most married parties it lasted about 2 hours before everyone left to put the kids to bed, but we still had a grand old time.

Life according to my phone

Since I quit my full time job, I have been horrible at blogging... it is just so hard to actually sit down at a computer. So here is a review according to my (not iphone) phone pictures of the last few months:

This girl loves metal. She finds everything that is metal and puts it in her mouth. Including this metal cupcake wrapper. I think she liked the metal more than the bits of cupcake...

This girl loves her dad. Her first word is "da" and she knows that when she says it when Dad comes home from work that he will do anything for her... "da da da..."

She loves her toys and hated babyfood... all of it. She went straight for the real person food. The texture of babyfood constantly made her gag.
A little sun and some skinny jeans
Shopping for items in the new house. She is the best partner around.
Eva's first metro ride. I took her into GW when I taught pilates. So many people gave us their seats and moved out of the way for me... it was awesome.
Projects.... lots and lots of projects.

My morning workout often wipes both of us out. (sweet running stroller I got on craigslist for $15)

My flexible baby
After I quit, I think my all time favorite thing has become slow mornings. (on the days I don't teach pilates at 6am) Sometimes I don't want to get out of bed yet, so eva and I just hang out and cuddle. I absolutely love it.

We visited Utah to see my little brother Keenan who just got home from his mission in New Zealand.
Going a couple more months back in time, this was one of my favorite New Year's Eve Parties. We celebrated all night long during Stephanie Sonkson's wedding reception in Ohio. Amazing food. Great music, fantastic company.
The only down side was when Eva got her finger stuck in the door at the Columbus Ohio temple when we were on our way out. She broke her thumb. A quick trip to the urgent care helped. The amazing part is that babies actually heal broken bones in about a week. She sported that awesome wrap all week and then was as good as new.
The lights at temple square in Utah
Great Grandma time with Grandma Holder.
Visiting my former co-workers in the Congressman's Utah office (and then being recommend to do press for another congressional campaign--which I am so glad I decided to do. I love being able to write a few press releases and keep up with my press contacts all from the comfort of my home and with my baby. It is the perfect mix.)
Eva is such a sport on all the flights she has gone on. We got ourselves one amazing baby.
Having my baby fall asleep on me is still one of the best feelings in the world. Here we were visiting my cousin Kimberly in Durham for Thanksgiving.

And that is a pretty good glimpse of what the DC Essigs have been up to lately.
