The Lincoln Memorial

The DC Essigs will be back to our normal blogging schedule next week, with updates from our parents visiting DC, graduation, our Utah trip, and Lincoln's birthday.
Until then, here is one of our favorite pictures from visiting the Lincoln Memorial with my parents when they were in town.

Graduation

So Alisia and I finally graduated. No more assignments, tests, worksheets, quizzes, nothing! We're finally done.
Commencement was held on the National Mall between the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument. It made for some pretty sweet pics!

Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's Chief of Staff was the commencements speaker.

Ali ditched the MPA students to sit with me in the law school section. We had a lot of fun together.

Our favorite part about graduation was that both sets of parents flew out to be with us.

We'll miss all the friends we made in school though...

9 square

{9 square is like 4 square, but 2.5 times better}.
Thank you Rachel for the Picture!

I love 9 square.
I think it is a must for every BBQ in the summer.
For those of you who know me well, you know that I have played this game every summer with all types of friends and family since my cousin Char introduced me to it 5 years ago.

A couple of weeks ago we brought the game to DC.
I don't think BBQs will ever be the same.

No Haystacks! No Fire-y Darts! No Mini Me's!

Maybe I am not quite all grown up yet...

The West Wing

You know you are grown up when....
For work you get to go to the White House for a briefing,
in the West Wing.

Firsts and Lasts

This past week was Lincoln's last day of Law School, and my last day of classes in my Masters program. I can't believe we are done with grad school. I still feel like I should be doing homework right now.

-September 2006-
Lincoln with his lunch bag, getting ready for his first day of
Law School.
(Thank you to Lincoln's roomate Michael for taking this picture. While he thought he was funny to take it at the time, I am glad we have it. )

-May 2009-

Even though our formal classes are done,
I doubt that this will be the end...
