1,500 miles, 250 pictures, 11 states, 8 President's gravesites, 5 days, 4 tanks of gas, 3 stops at Burger King, 2 young lovers, 1 car and a lot of FUN!!

As you can surmise from the previous posts our New England trip took us through several states, some of which we had never been to before...

Finally, we reached our first overnight destination...

After two days in Boston we headed up to Lexington and Concord. Sound familiar?

If Lexington and Concord don't sound familiar, how about The Shot Heard Round the World?

The first shots of the American Revolution happened at this bridge in 1775. The Redcoats were on one side and the Colonial militia was on the other. It's kind of funny to think these men lined up on either side of the bridge and just started shooting at each other, reloading and shooting again, without looking for cover.

We figured we were so close to Maine we should stop by and take a picutre of one of the most famous lighthouses in the U.S.: The Nubble Lighthouse.

As you can see, it was B-E-A-utiful. We wished we could have spent more time in Maine, but we were on our way to Vermont for the night.

We camped in Sharon, Vermont at Camp Joseph. The old property of the Smith Family, and where Joseph Smith Jr. was born in 1805.

Right across the way from our cabin was "Old Joseph." A tree that is 200+ years old.

The view from Camp Joseph was beautiful. Let's be honest all of Vermont was beautiful.

We had a blast staying with the Carpenter Family and playing with their two little girls. They gave us the insider's scoop to Boston, and let us camp with them in Vermont. Paul and Lincoln went to undergrad together, and had a lot of catching up to do. AGGIES RULE!!

Just down the road from Camp Joseph was the Visitor's Center. We didn't have time for the complete tour, but we were glad we stopped by.

An interesting fact about his birth is that the cabin he was born in straddled the county line. Depending on which end of the cabin he was born in he may have actually been born in South Royalton not Sharon. It was easier for Joseph's father to get to Sharon to sign the birth certificate so that's why he was "born" in Sharon.

Just down the road from the Visitor's Center is a Stake Center.

We were almost sad that we couldn't spend more time in beautiful Vermont. The colors of the trees were absolutely amazing! We're planning on making another trip up to New England some day to spend more time in those beautiful states.

We drove through Vermont and New York, stopping at President's gravesites on the way down (next post). Back to the hustle and bustle of...

We met up with Rachel, Ali's best friend since middle school in Manhattan. We ate at Haru's, a Japanese restaurant, on the corner of Wall St. and Pearl. That's right we ate dinner on Wall St. The food at Haru's was spectacular! We heard they cater for Goldman Sachs sometimes. We could tell why.

The next day we headed home. We both agreed it was one of our favorite trips we've been on together. New England is beautiful, and we're sure we'll be back again...
