Montpelier

Last week, on our way home from Monticello, we happened to drive past Montpelier--the home of James Madison. We were curious if the grounds were still open, and when we drove up, no one was in the ticket booth.... So we decided to keep driving. Upon our arrival, we could tell that the grounds were obviously closed and no other tours were being conducted. However, since we were already there, we decided to conduct our own tour on the grounds. We had to be a little sneaky about things though...


Cute pregnant Melissa was able to squeeze through the fence very easily...
The boys chose an easier route...
But we made it! Here is his house.... And the gardens were BEAUTIFUL!















However, as soon as we saw a car, the boys took off running. Melissa and I quickly followed, laughing our heads off the whole time.
The trip of the grounds proved successful, as I was able to take a picture of of the official grave of James Madison.






As soon as this picture was taken we ran to the car and drove off, before we got caught being on the grounds after hours...
